This article is published as part of the Geografiska Annaler: Series B, Human Geography special issue ‘Palestinian Futures Anticipation, Imagination, Embodiments', edited by Mikko Joronen, Helga Tawil-Souri, Merav Amir & Mark Griffiths.ABSTRACT In this paper, I examine different treatments of the future in Palestine through four scenes. "For "a no-state yet to come: Palestinian urban place-making in Kufr Aqab, Jerusalem
This article explores Palestinians' place-making in Jerusalem under the constant threat of displacement and dispossession. I center my focus on Kufr Aqab, a neighborhood that was cut off from Jerusalem by the construction of Wall in 2003 while remaining inside the borders of the city's municipality. After 1967 Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the borders of Jerusalem's municipality expanded and Kufr Aqab village was annexed…

Through her mobilization of visual art—namely, through performance and video art—I show that Saadeh's work not only subverts the hegemonic visual dominance of the Israeli state but offers a context for thinkin…

Framing Visual Politics: Photography of the Wall in Palestine
Photography of the Wall in Palestine is a site of visual and political struggle. Through conversations with Palestinian and Israeli photographers, I shed light on the visual and national anxiety that photography of the Palestinian landscape produces in the shadow of the Wall's construction. Building on Gil Hochberg's conceptualization of visual politics, through which the Israeli state dominates the visual field, I argue that the significance of …
