A new absolute date from Swartkrans Cave for the oldest occurrences of Paranthropus robustus and Oldowan stone tools in South Africa
Isochron 26Al/10Be burial dating of Xihoudu: Evidence for the earliest human settlement in northern China
A Geoarchaeological Study of the Middle and Upper Pleistocene Levels at Canteen Kopje, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
Canteen Kopje, situated in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, has two main archaeological deposits: alluvial gravels and a mantle of overlying fine sediments known locally as the “Hutton Sands.” This paper focuses on the fine sediments, the three industries contained within them, and the interface with the underlying gravels in an attempt to clarify their formation and transformation. A Fauresmith assemblage is found at this interface; i…
Early Acheulean organised core knapping strategies ca. 1.3 Ma at Rietputs 15, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
New cosmogenic burial ages for Sterkfontein Member 2 Australopithecus and Member 5 Oldowan
New magnetostratigraphic and numerical age of the Fuente Nueva-3 site (Guadix-Baza basin, Spain)
Cosmogenic nuclide burial dating of hominin-bearing Pleistocene cave deposits at Swartkrans, South Africa
Initial 26 Al/ 10 Be burial dating of the hominin site Bailong Cave in Hubei Province, central China
Datation d’enfouissement par 26Al/10Be et son application préliminaire à des sites du Paléolithique Inférieur en Chine et en France
Age of Zhoukoudian Homo erectus determined with 26Al/10Be burial dating
Early Acheulean technology in the Rietputs Formation, South Africa, dated with cosmogenic nuclides
Lower Pliocene Hominid Remains from Sterkfontein
Cosmogenic aluminum-26 and beryllium-10 burial dates of low-lying fossiliferous breccia in the caves at Sterkfontein, South Africa, show that associated hominid fossils accumulated in the Lower Pliocene. These dates indicate that the skeleton StW 573 and newly discovered specimens from Jacovec Cavern have much the same age: approximately 4 million years. These specimens are thus of an age similar to Australopithecus anamensis from East Africa.
