Paleoecological Conditions at the End of the Sarmatian Period and Their Impact on Herder and Farmer Communities from Eastern Europe and Western Siberia
The paper make an attempt to consider the cultural and historical events marking the final stage of the Sarmatian epoch from the point of view of climate dynamics in Eastern Europe. It has been confirmed that the Late Sarmatian period in the Lower Volga region coincided with increasing climate humidity and was characterized by high precipitation during the cold season. This occurred in conditions of the Siberian High weakening, resulted to penetr…
Soil Microbiological Approaches to Reconstruction of the Purpose of Ancient Settlements Construction
The aim of the article is reconstruction of purpose of ancient settlements construction using a combination of chemical and microbiological indicators. The study object is the Bagai-1 settlement of the Late Bronze Age in the northwestern part of the Crimean Peninsula. The chemical and microbiological properties of the occupation layer within the buildings of various shapes and sizes in different parts of the site have been studied. It was establi…
Paleoecological Conditions in the Steppe Zone of the Eastern European Plain at the Post-Catacomb Time
The article is devoted to reconstruction of paleoecological conditions of the steppe zone of the Eastern European Plain in the late Middle Bronze Age. The buried soils of the Kurgan of the Babinskaya culture in the Bogucharsky district of the Voronezh region were studied. It is shown that chemical properties of soil are determined by winter precipitation, while the state of its microbial community reflects the moisture content in the warm season.…
Microbiological Approach to Reconstruction of the Original Content of Pots from the Burials
In a model soil experiment, microbial decomposition nature and its rate applying to various organic substrates were studied. It is shown that the decomposition of various materials changes the functional features of microbial communities. These changes are assessed using multisubstrate testing of respiratory activity of microbial communities – this testing assumes application of low- molecular respiratory inducers (aminoacids and carboxylic acids…
