The official history of that process underscores that afforestation was the remedy for erosion. The question asking by t…

    Open Access•Santiago A Parra, Santiago Parra et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnobiology•2019•Cited by: 2•References: 57

The loss of forests is a factor that could account for the loss of local knowledge about edible plants. In Chile, the replacement of native vegetation by monoculture plantations of exotic trees has been the main cause of forest loss in recent times. We assess whether this loss of forests affects knowledge of wild edible plants by conducting household surveys in coastal rural localities in south-central Chile, subject to different degrees of repla…

Les pratiques économiques et les politiques publiques se fondent et promeuvent en même temps certains régimes discursifs. Et ce alors même que de nombreuses études soulignent les impacts environnementaux et so…

In the absence of comparable macroeconomic indicators for most of the Latin American economies before the 1930s, the apparent consumption of energy is used in this paper as a proxy of the degree of modernization of Latin America and the Caribbean. This paper presents an estimate of the apparent consumption per head of modern energies (coal, petroleum, and hydroelectricity) for 30 countries of the region, 1890 to 1925. As a result, it provides the…

  • Los efectos ambientales del beneficio de minerales metálicos

Os efeitos ambientais das operações compreendidas no beneficiamento dos minerais metálicos variaram historicamente, de acordo com o desenvolvimento das mesmas.
