"Matrilocal" Greek peasants and a reconsideration of residence terminology1
It has recently been suggested that peasants never consistently form matrilocal joint households. Residence data from a Greek island community seem to contradict this statement. Many of the real and apparent contradictions in residence pattern studies are due to the ambiguous and inconsistently utilized terminology. Further refinement of formulae for determining population from floor area
It is suggested that a formula which attempts to estimate the population of a dwelling from floor area must be restricted to homogeneous dwelling types. The population of a multifamily dwelling can be estimated as one‐sixth the floor area as measured in square metres.
