  • A profit-rate invariant solution to the Marxian transformation problem

    Open Access•Jean-Guy Loranger, J G Loranger•ARTICLE•Capital & Class•2004•References: 17

The proposed solution is based on the assumption of the invariance of the general profit rate and a money wage level determined simultaneously with prices. The labour cost is determined in the value space by a given exploitation rate (based on a historical cost as the other input coefficients) while it is determined endogenously in the monetary space. This solution diverges from the neo-Ricardian solution based on the invariance of a subsistence …

  • A Reexamination of the Marxian Circuit of Capital

    Open Access•Jean-Guy Loranger, J G Loranger•ARTICLE•Review of Radical Political…•1989

The aim of the paper is to develop a new approach to inflation based on Manes circuit of capital and the structural price equation which is hown to be simultaneously determined with the circuit equation. The feedback effect of any disequilibrium in the circuit has some important consequences for the price equation. The reduced form of the model shows in particular bow the ecchange rate and the interest rate can influence the general price level i…

  • Problems of Identification and Estimation of the Demand for Capital

    Jean-Guy Loranger, J G Loranger•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•1976

IN a short comment on Jorgenson's survey article on investment (1971), R. Eisner states that . . abandoning implicit as well as explicit assumptions of perfect competition, desired capital stock should depend upon production functions and supply and demand functions for inputs and outputs, as seen by business decision-makers.1 The main purpose of this paper is to confirm Eisner's argument by demonstrating that a model of the demand for capital se…
