    Open Access•Cate Bailey, Fabienne Bowden et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology & Health•2026

OBJECTIVE: To examine the responses of people with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) regarding issues arising in the interpretation or application of the revised Illness Perception Questionnaire (IPQ-R). Secondly, to elicit themes relevant to understanding how people with FND conceptualise their illness. METHODS AND MEASURES: Nine participants with various FND symptoms took part in 'think-aloud' interviews whilst completing the IPQ-R. Partic…

  • Codeveloping a Novel Intervention for People With Post‐Covid Condition

Open Access•Lily Felton, Michail Kalfas et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2025

INTRODUCTION: Some people experience persistent symptoms, such as fatigue, brain fog and breathlessness, long after the onset of COVID-19 infection. This is known as the post-COVID syndrome (PCS). We developed a unique and holistic psycho-physiological intervention that integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a structured talking therapy, with principles of homeostasis. INTRODUCTION: Many people experience persistent symptoms for more than 12 weeks following SARS-CoV-2 infection, which is known as post-COVID-19 condition (PCS) or Long COVID (LC). PCS can impair people's quality of life and daily functioning. However, there is a lack of in-depth research exploring the PCS patient journey, as well as gendered aspects of patients' experiences. METHODS: Nineteen semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted …

Roxanne Keynejad, Roxanne C Keynejad et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•2020

OBJECTIVE: Altered attentional processing (automatically attending to negative or illness-relevant information) and interpretative biases (interpreting ambiguous information as negative or illness relevant) may be mechanistically involved in functional neurological disorder (FND). Common mechanisms between FND and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) have been proposed but not compared experimentally. METHODS: We compared the cognitive task performance…

Open Access•T R Nicholson, Tom Nicholson•CHAPTER•Birth of the British Motor Car,…•1982

In June 1832 a battle had been lost, but for all the steam promoters except Gurney, the war was far from over. The old campaigners fought on, and new ones, undiscouraged by the Lords decision, entered the fray. During the remainder of 1832, however, activity was slow to build up. The recorded journeys were few; but one of these made up for the lack of numbers with sheer spectacle.KeywordsCommercial VehicleJoint Stock CompanyCoke ConsumptionSelect…
