  • Considerations for a New Research Agenda on Migration and Refugee Studies

    Open Access•Cristina Masferrer, Luicy Pedroza et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Immigrant & Refugee…•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 66

Since 2000, Mexico has faced challenges in developing migration policies as it transformed from an emigration country into a country of return, transit, immigration, and forced internal displacement. With limited institutional capacities to address this complexity, Mexican policymakers transferred key policymaking powers to the foreign policy apparatus to bend to the Trump administration’s coercive demands that Mexico contain and deter migration.…

  • Inverse Productivity or Inverse Efficiency? Evidence from Mexico

Justin Kagin, J Edward Taylor et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Development Studies•2016

Using a unique panel data set from rural Mexico, we find strong evidence of a negative relationship between farm size and both productivity and technical efficiency: large farms not only have a lower value of output per hectare than small farms, they also produce further from the efficiency frontier. Our findings suggest that, in spite of the ongoing transformation of agricultural supply chains and economists’ recommendations for small farmers to…

  • Immigration and the US farm labour supply

Open Access•J Edward Taylor, Stephen R Boucher et al.•ARTICLE•MIGRATION LETTERS•2012

This paper uses unique data from rural Mexico to examine the supply of immigrant hired labour to US farms. Econometric evidence indicates that immigration policy reforms had unintended consequences for farm labour supply. The long-term trend in migration from rural Mexico to US farms is decreasing, and in recent years, US farms have drawn more labour from remote and less developed areas of rural Mexico. Other high income countries, as well as som…

    Open Access•Antonio Yunez‐naude, Antonio Yúnez-Naude•ARTICLE•Estudios Demográficos y Urbanos•1977•References: 2
