  • Ps: Political Science and Politics Reviewers, 2011

    Open Access•Regina Abrami, Gary Ackerman et al.•ARTICLE•PS Political Science & Politics•2012•Cited by: 1•References: 3

  • Analysis of Research Efficiency: Costs and Information Gain

    Open Access•Manus I Midlarsky, Manus Midlarsky et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1975

This study provides a method for the examination of research efficiency in terms of costs to the subjects, and information gain for the researcher. The basic problem of maximizing the differentiations among subjects on a dependent variable is equivalent to the problem of maximizing information gain for a given cost in behavioral science research procedures. The distribution resulting from this maximization process, under certain circumstances, al…

    Manus I Midlarsky, Manus Midlarsky•ARTICLE•International Studies Quarterly•1970•Cited by: 41

The purpose of this study is a systematic examination of Latin American and Sub-Saharan African coups both by descriptive and explanatory means. Two mathematical (probabilistic) models are suggested as descriptions of the occurrence of coups in these regions. The term model refers here to an abstract representation of reality and does not necessarily connote explanation in the form of stated or inferred causality.' As a means of explanation for t…

  • A theory of revolution

    Open Access•Raymond Tanter, Manus I Midlarsky et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Conflict Resolution•1967•Cited by: 43•References: 10

While prior studies have delineated dimensions of conflict behavior within nations (Rummel, 1963, 1966, 1967; Tanter, 1965, 1966) in order to discover the variables most representative of internal conflict, a purpose of the present inquiry is to discover their theoretical significance. A typology of revolution is presented and two possible causes of revolution-changes in economic development and level of education-are examined regarding the exten…
