Trust in Social Robots
This study examines interactions between students and a social robot in an experiment designed to explore students' trust in educational robots. In the experiment, 16 out of 22 students come to accept an erroneous solution to a mathematical task presented by the robot, even though the vast majority of students initially suggest the correct solution. It undertakes quantitative and qualitative analyses of three sets of transcribed medical consultations. In Sweden Swedish, address pronouns which lower social distance overwhelmingly dominate. Data were collected longitudinally over 1 year from 35 university students studying Swedish in Malmö, Sweden, and in Melbourne, Australia. This article focuses on the level of maintenance of Danish in the Danish community of Melbourne and is based on 34 case studies drawn from a total of 89 interviews with people of Danish ethnic background carried out by Professor Bent Søndergaard in 1994.
