  • El teatro de Julio Cortázar

    Peter Standish•ARTICLE•Hispania•2000

  • Julio de 3 a 10

    Peter Standish•ARTICLE•Bulletin Hispanique•2000

  • Audit independence and nonaudit services: A comparative study in differing British and French perspectives

Alain Mikol, Peter Standish•ARTICLE•European Accounting Review•1998

This paper presents a comparative study of respective positions of the British and French public accounting professions on whether independence of the statutory auditor is at material risk of compromise from supply of nonaudit services by audit firms to audit clients. For the purpose of the study, attention was confined to regulatory texts and professional audit standards in both countries. It examines historical factors in the development of pub…

  • Los compromisos de Julio Cortazar

    Peter Standish•ARTICLE•Hispania•1997

  • Contemplating Your Own Novel: The Case of Mario Vargas Llosa

    Peter Standish•ARTICLE•Hispanic Review•1993

HE.i N his celebrated Arnolfini portrait, Van Eyck places a mirror at centre rear, reflecting the backs of the wedding couple and the blurred images of the witnesses, who by implication include ourselves and the artist; Johannes de Eyck fuit hic, he wrote on it. Velazquez went one better: his mirror in Las meninas reflects a royal couple in whose shoes we stand, while the painter sets himself within the picture frame, engaged in the act of painti…

    Peter Standish•ARTICLE•Modern Language Notes•1991

  • Origins of the Plan Comptable Général: A Study in Cultural Intrusion and Reaction

    Peter Standish, Peter E M Standish•ARTICLE•Accounting and Business Research•1990

This study examines the origins of the present-day French Plan comptable général, the first national accounting code in the world to be adopted under normal peacetime conditions. Its origins occurred during the Second World War when the Vichy Government appointed a commission to develop and implement a national accounting code. The intention was that the code be made obligatory for all enterprises and the commission would advise on adaptations of…

  • Imagen de Galdós en Cortázar

    Peter Standish•ARTICLE•Bulletin Hispanique•1988
