  • Geohydrologic units of Ischia Island (Southern Tyrrhenian Sea, Italy)

Open Access•Silvia Fabbrocino, Eliana Bellucci Sessa et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2024

The first hydrogeological mapping of Ischia Island at the 1:10,000 scale is presented and discussed. The ‘Map of the geohydrologic units of Ischia Island’ and the accompanying hydrostratigraphic sequence at a basin scale are based on the most recent geological maps and data from the CAR.G Project, and on new volcanological and hydrogeological surveys and studies. Data sources include the database stored by the INGV, Sezione di Napoli, Osservatori…

  • Sr isotopic composition as a tool for unraveling human mobility in the Campania area

Open Access•Ilenia Arienzo, Ilaria Rucco et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2020•References: 88

  • Volcanic ash layers illuminate the resilience of Neanderthals and early modern humans to natural hazards

Open Access•J J Lowe, John Lowe et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the National…•2012

Marked changes in human dispersal and development during the Middle to Upper Paleolithic transition have been attributed to massive volcanic eruption and/or severe climatic deterioration. We test this concept using records of volcanic ash layers of the Campanian Ignimbrite eruption dated to ca. 40,000 y ago (40 ka B.P.). The distribution of the Campanian Ignimbrite has been enhanced by the discovery of cryptotephra deposits (volcanic ash layers t…
