    Open Access•Keyerra Charles, M J T Lewis et al.•ARTICLE•Health Equity•2024

Purpose: In 2020, the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) convened a Task Force to recommend an evidence-based race-free approach to estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). • The Mills of Meaux

    M J T Lewis•ARTICLE•Industrial Archaeology Review•1996

The history of three monastic watermills and their water supplies in the marshlands of the Hull valley is traced from the records of Meaux Abbey in East Yorkshire. Occupying marginal sites where only a meagre head was available, and subsequently transformed into tide mills with an equally meagre supply of tidal water, they offer a rare insight into the medieval approach to water power in desperately unpromising circumstances.

Just how the Western vehicle came about has been matter for speculation. • The Rolt Memorial Lecture, 1983 Our Debt to Roman Engineering

    M J T Lewis•ARTICLE•Industrial Archaeology Review•1984

Lincoln was one of the four colonia of Roman Britain and therefore intended to serve as an example of cultured urban life to the surrounding region. A good water supply was essential in Roman towns but Lincoln, stand above the 200ft contour, could not receive a normal gravity fed system. This paper examines the archaeological evidence for the water supply to Roman Lincoln and looks at how the problem was solved in later generations. Dr Lewis argu…
