  • Managing Conflict Resolution and Perceptions: An Approach Leveraging the Thomas‐Kilmann Conflict Mode Theory

Open Access•C Otrakji, Camille Alexandre Otrakji et al.•ARTICLE•Conflict Resolution Quarterly•2025

Conflict resolution management is a process whereby two or more parties engage toward an agreeable solution to a dispute. In this study, we propose a methodology to start a structured process of resolving complex conflicts between parties that previously avoided any form of engagement. We leverage the Thomas‐Kilmann conflict mode theory to guide our methodological design that we have termed SACRE (Symmetric Asynchronous Conflict Resolution Enviro…

  • Strategies for the Analysis of Imputed Data From a Sample Survey: The National Medical Care Utilization and Expenditure Survey

    James M Lepkowski, J R Landis et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•1987

Missing data in sample surveys is virtually unavoidable, whether it is an entire unit that is missing or only an item for a responding unit. Compensation for unit nonresponse is usually made through the assignments of weights to responding units; for item nonresponse, the compensation often is by an imputation procedure. This paper reviews the extent of missing data in a large federal survey, the National Medical Care Utilization and Expenditure …

Published formulas for the large sample variance of the kappa statistic that are appropriate for the case of different sets of raters for different Ss, when each set of raters is selected at random from a larger pool of available raters, are determined to be incorrect. New formulas are derived and c

  • The Measurement of Observer Agreement for Categorical Data

    J R Landis, Gary G Koch•ARTICLE•Biometrics•1977

This paper presents a general statistical methodology for the analysis of multivariate categorical data arising from observer reliability studies. The procedure essentially involves the construction of functions of the observed proportions which are directed at the extent to which the observers agree among themselves and the construction of test statistics for hypotheses involving these functions. Tests for interobserver bias are presented in ter…

  • A new technique for measuring preferences in demographic studies

    Open Access•Katharine Ann Frohardt-Lane, J R Landis et al.•ARTICLE•Demography•1977•References: 7

In this article, we introduce an alternative technique to the single-sentence question for measuring preferences for number of children, age at marriage, length of first birth interval, length of employment, and years of schooling. This new measurement procedure utilizes a graphic scale rather than verbal responses, and it places family size decisions within the context of several other major life cycle decisions. One month reliability data for t…

  • Moral Value Structure of Laborers and Penitentiary Inmates: A Research Note

    J R Landis•ARTICLE•Social Forces•1967

A questionnaire containing 50 moral values items was administered to white marginally middle-class laborers, white penitentiary inmates, and Negro penitentiary inmates. A comparison of the responses of the white laborers and the white penitentiary inmates revealed significant differences on 26 of 50 items, with the laborers presenting a more condemning or more “conservative” judgment on nearly all moral values items. A comparison of the white and…
