    Open Access•Andreja Trdina, Maruša Pušnik•ARTICLE•Leisure Sciences•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 39

This article approaches personal memory travels with the aim of investigating people's encounters with the changing environment in relation to time. It centers on the intra-actions with perceptual ephemera as immaterial non-solid entities to argue that our relational reality is a cyclical, dis-continuous process of past and present encounters. The study is grounded in the post-humanist performativity approach and based on personal life histories …

    Open Access•Maruša Pušnik, Dejan Jontes•ARTICLE•European Journal of Cultural…•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 16

The article uses the case of Melania Trump, the former First Lady of the United States, to analyse the discursive strategies through which the print media in Slovenia represented ‘Melania’ as an ethnically born Slovenian on a national scale. The article also demonstrates how patriotism, based on the love and feelings of belonging to the Slovenian nation-state, was nationalized in the case of ‘Melania’. The main argument is that numerous and repet…

  • Clothing and Expressive Revolution: Wearing Jeans in Socialism

    Breda Luthar, Maruša Pušnik•ARTICLE•Fashion Theory•2021•References: 11

This study investigates jeans use as well as the discursive practices that framed jeans-wearing in 1960s and 1970s socialist Yugoslavia. We adopt a practice theory approach that goes beyond the expressive capacity of jeans and focuses on their material and practical capacity as an epitome of cultural transformation. Practices discussed include embodied practices enabled by jeans and those that have jeans as their target, such as smuggling, dreami…

In the second part of the article, we interpret the results of a qualitative empirical study regarding the daily use of media technology among young people, aged between 19 and 29 years. The study finds that ci…

In Slovenia, however, the presence of Thai female labour is a relatively new development, as is migration from Asia more broadly. In o…

The radical break between two national contexts in 1991, when Slovenia seceded from Yugoslavia, and Slovenia’s integration into the European Union in 2004, has brought changes to the collective memory of the Slovenian nation. In this article, I investigate how Delo, a major Slovenian daily newspaper, has been involved in memory struggles to present new memorial discourses that are in accordance with the new national politics. A large part of the …
