Geometric ornament as material knowledge
This article proposes a method for analysing recurring geometric relationships in Chalcolithic Botai material culture in northern Kazakhstan. Ornamented artefacts, dwelling architecture and settlement layout are examined without assuming a single symbolic code or historical continuity.
