    La paix acquise le 11 novembre 1918 a suscité en Belgique comme en France des sentiments ambivalents. En revanche, le travail de la mémoire dans ces deux pays a été fort différent. En Belgique, la figure du soldat, si elle tient la première place, n'occupe pas tout l'espace mémoriel. À ses côtés, se trouve la figure du martyr et du déporté.
