  • Strategies for Colonizing Death

    Open Access•Raquel Ferrández•ARTICLE•Religions•2025•References: 11

Digital immortality and transhumanist longevity proposals are currently researched and debated independently. This essay claims that both ideas represent two sides of the same cultural denial of death, reconceptualizing them as interconnected forms of thanato-colonialism. The first form includes the digital immortality industry, in both its passive and active versions. Interpreted from the framework of data colonialism, digital immortality repres…

  • The Nakedness of Prakṛti

    Open Access•Raquel Ferrández•ARTICLE•Journal of Dharma Studies•2024

In his autobiography The Space within the Heart (1970), the writer Aubrey Menen shares the experiment in self-inquiry he conducted in the 1960s in the Piazza Farnese in Rome. Relying on the reading of two Upaniṣads, he decided to retreat to a room and not abandon the experiment until he had achieved the experience of his true self, the ātman . Employing only intellectual analysis, Menen distances himself, one by one, from all the narratives that …

  • ‘I Have Regained Memory’ (smṛtir labdhā)

    Open Access•Raquel Ferrández, Raquel Ferrández-Formoso•ARTICLE•Comparative Philosophy An…•2020

This paper proposes an interdisciplinary reading of the Bhagavad Gītā, presenting it as a parrhesiastic dialogue between Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna, and focusing on the importance attached to memory. Foucault’s studies on the exercise of parrhesia (“true speech”) in the Greco-Roman context, but also Heidegger's views on the original memory, and Abhinavagupta’s commentary to the Bhagavad Gītā have been used as important tools of interpretation. Devotion is …

  • Shivaísmo tántrico no dual

    Open Access•Raquel Ferrández, Raquel Ferrández-Formoso•ARTICLE•ENDOXA•2018
