More specifically, we examined whether the information that people desired to share (i.e., desired relationship visibility) and shared in practice (i.e., actual relationship visibility) about their romantic relationships on Facebook was predicted by their level of relational commitment. A sample of 139 couples, users of Facebook, aged 17 to 30 years, part…

Young adults increasingly express a desire to create egalitarian romantic partnerships, yet numerous studies have shown that women generally continue to assume the lion's share of housework. Building on previous work on threshold levels of tolerance for dirt and disorder, on housework allocation, and on perceived fairness, the current longitudinal study documented the pathway by which threshold levels for housework lead to feelings of frustration…

  • Transition to Motherhood and Relationship Quality

    G Bouchard•ARTICLE•Journal of Divorce & Remarriage•2006

Despite the fact that many women in remarriages give birth to their first child, studies on the transition to motherhood do not acknowledge the impact of higher-order unions and vice versa. Currently, it is unknown how the relationship functioning of women undergoing the transition to motherhood is influenced by the new couples' divorce or separation history. The aim of this study is to address this gap in the literature by examining the trajecto…
