In order to gauge the possibilities of producing a minor literature in French, as defined by Deleuze and Guattari in their groundbreaking work on Kafka, we have confronted two books of contemporary authors who position themselves at the forefront of francophone postcolonial literature: Le Nègre et l’Amiral (1988) by Raphaël Confiant, a writer from Martinique famous for his praise of creolity; and Za (2008) by Jean-Luc Raharimanana, a lesser-known…
Céline au Congo
If Louis-Ferdinand Céline au Congo influence on 20th century French literature is widely acknowledged, one is less aware of the influence left by his Journey to the end of the night on contemporary postcolonial Francophone Literature. In spite of the racist nature of his ideology, Célines profoundly "oralized" body of works showed the way to later generations on how to combine the written and the spoken word - a question which is at the core of c…

Céline, Elstir et le Christ
Céline, Elstir, and Christ Céline advertised his ignorance of painting, but his last works, which attack first Proust through Elstir, then Delacroix through the Crucifixion, are as painterly as Cobra - while his intertextualities may ultimately aim at Barbey d'Aurevilly, whose le "Chevalier Des Touches" imposed a pseudonym for Destouches' painterly name
