    Nancy G Kutner, Donald L Bliwise et al.•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2001•Cited by: 3•References: 1

There is mixed evidence about the relation of race to risk of sleep disturbance. We explored the relation of race to restless sleep complaint in survey data from a cohort of 311 older patients undergoing chronic renal dialysis and a similarly aged cohort of 354 nondialysis controls. Older dialysis patients were significantly more likely to report restless sleep. Restless sleep complaint was related to comorbidity, depressed mood, use of sleep med…

This article reports the results of a three-year study of payment errors in the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program. Open Access•Nancy G Kutner, Donna Brogan et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology of Women Quarterly•1980•Cited by: 4

Responses from 93% of the women medical students enrolled in two southern medical schools in 1975–1976 indicated that wanting to serve others, desire for independence in one's work, and interest in science were strong motivations for entering medicine. These motivations also characterized men. Women, more often than men, cited the challenge of a medical career, and they showed more interest in high occupational prestige than have women medical sc…

This study examines the hypothesis that the psychosocial health of urban dwellers is related to characteristics of the physical environment in which they reside. For each of 100 Atlanta city blocks, 21 indices of deviant psychosocial behavior were obtained, as were 104 physical environment indices (such as landscaping and nearby land use), and 106 sociocultural environment indices (such as population density and income). Factor analysis was used …

  • Sources of Sex Discrimination in Educational Systems: A Conceptual Model

    Open Access•Nancy G Kutner, Donna Brogan•ARTICLE•Psychology of Women Quarterly•1976•Cited by: 1•References: 9

A conceptual model is presented which relates numerous variables believed to contribute to sexism in American education. Discrimination is viewed as intervening between two sets of interrelated independent variables and the dependent variable of sex inequalities in educational attainment. The two sets of independent variables are 1) internal psychological-cognitive structures of individuals who participate in the educational system, and 2) the ed…
