Long-Distance Obsidian Conveyance During the Neolithic
In this article, the authors contend that three blades, archaeometrically identified as made of obsidian from the Nemrut Dağ source in eastern Anatolia, were recovered from bona fide archaeological contexts at two sites in Poland. This is supported by somewhat contentious contextual evidence, which is thoroughly reviewed. If the findspots are accepted as genuine, these artefacts would mark the furthest western distribution of Nemrut Dağ obsidian,…
Digital restoration and 3D visualisation of the early Neolithic pottery from Ryńsk, Poland
The archaeological site of Ryńsk in north-central Poland produced sound evidence of long-distance journeys of people and pottery from the 6th millennium BC in Central Europe by yielding a sophisticated ceramic footed bowl that can be traced to the Carpathian Basin region. Archaeology indicates that the earliest ceramic vessels had a different functional, social and ritual role, but it is difficult to convey information on the significant role of …
Krzemień jurajski podkrakowski w neolicie ziemi chełmińskiej
Artykuł prezentuje dane dotyczące materiałów krzemiennych z surowca jurajskiego podkrakowskiego w inwentarzach kultury ceramiki wstęgowej rytej, kultury późnej ceramiki wstęgowej i kultury pucharów lejkowatych.
The TRB burial site at Markowice, Poland
In 2018, excavations at Markowice in central Poland produced sound evidence for the uptake of the Baden Culture in the region: the remains of a young male interred with two cattle drawing a funerary sledge were unearthed, along with several other Funnel Beaker (TRB) inhumations that date to 3500-3100 BC
New insights into the use of “imported” flint raw materials in the younger phases of the Funnel Beaker culture in the Starogard Lake District
In recent years, the region of Starogard Lake District in northern Poland has seen a growing interest in the Funnel Beaker culture, including the research on local flintworking, which has fed the discussion on the traffic in “exotic” flint in the younger phases of the Funnel Beaker settlement in the region (3650-3100 calBC). In this study, lithic assemblages from the Starogard Lake District are screened for “imported” flint artefacts to determine…
Polsko-czeskie i czesko-polskie kontakty w toruńskiej archeologii w drugiej połowie XX wieku
