  • The effects of individual and collective labor market status on employment and earnings during the Covid-19 crisis

    Open Access•T Kristal, Guy Mundlak et al.•ARTICLE•Socio-Economic Review•2025•References: 52

Based on a unique longitudinal survey conducted between April 2020 and April 2021 in Israel, this study estimated the effect of labor market status during the outbreak of COVID-19 on continuity of employment, worktime and earnings throughout the crisis. Labor market status has both an individual dimension (the type of employment contract) and a collective one (membership in a trade union or coverage by a collective agreement). Findings from curvi…

  • Spheres of Migration

Hila Shamir, Guy Mundlak•ARTICLE•Middle East Law and Governance•2013•Cited by: 4•References: 4

This article seeks to describe the piecemeal process of creation of what may, arguably, be a new immigration regime in Israel. In order to do so, we focus on three distinct waves of non-Jewish entry to Israel. The first is the day-labor entry of Palestinian workers from the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) since 1967; the second is the entry of migrant workers from various countries, primarily since 1993; and the third is the entry of asylu…

  • Bringing Together or Drifting Apart? Targeting Care Work as “Work Like No Other”

Guy Mundlak, Hila Shamir•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Women and the…•2011•Cited by: 6•References: 3

  • De-Territorializing Labor Law

    Guy Mundlak•ARTICLE•Law & Ethics of Human Rights•2009•Cited by: 4

Labor law was traditionally a domestic project, defined on the basis of a geographic territory or a synthetic community; its norms were determined by the state and applied to employers and workers who resided within the state. Commonly, labor law is administered on a territorial basis, applies to incoming workers, and stops at the borders in respect of other states' sovereignty when capital migrates. Globalization affects the background in which …

  • The New Labor Law as a Social Text

    Guy Mundlak•ARTICLE•Israel Studies•1998•Cited by: 2•References: 2

ISRAELI LABOR LAW IS CURRENTLY in flux. What is the source of its instability? Many would pinpoint 1 January 1995 as the pivotal day that distinguishes the "old system" from the newly emerging one. On that day the new National Health Care Insurance Law went into effect, cutting the umbilical cord between health care provision and trade union membership and simultaneously nationalizing health care by guaranteeing all citizens and residents of Isra…
