How farmer-herder conflicts reconfigure the authority of politico-legal institutions in Ghana
This article examines the consequences of farmer-herder conflict and the processes underlying how authority is sourced, maintained, and lost. It illustrates that farmer-herder conflicts are an important source of authority in rural Ghana. Yet, authority does not result from farmers hopping from one institution to another to authorize claims but rather through intense resistance from emerging social movements (farmers) against institutions. We sho…

Manufacturing Scarcity: Understanding the Causes of Conflicts Between Farmers and Herders in Asante Akim North Municipality of Ghana
Farmer-herder conflicts are widespread in many parts of Africa. Scholars disagree on their causes. Other scholars emphasize politically established scarcities: scarcities caused by policies, legislation, and development programs. This paper examines the causes of farmer-herder conflict in the case of Asante Akim North Municipality o…
Field evaluation of specificity and sensitivity of a standard Sars-CoV-2 antigen rapid diagnostic test: A prospective study at a teaching hospital in Northern Ghana
The testing capacity for SARS-CoV-2 in Africa is rather limited. Antigen detection rapid diagnostic tests (Ag-RDTs) are a cheap and rapid alternative to reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests, but there is little data about their performance under real life conditions in tropical countries. The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of a standard Ag-RDT in a population of a major hospital in northern Ghana.…
