For more than a century a minor but not insignificant figure in the study of ancient philosophy has been the doxographer Arius Didymus. Ever since Meineke and Diels presented their hypothesis, it has been customary to attribute in this chapter, all located in Eusebius and Stobaeus, to this obscure personage. In the final chapter of Book II our doxographer leaves the subject of the moon and returns to that of the other heavenly bodies, recording the length of the planetary revolutions and adding some doxai on the length of the so-called Great year. The chapter is well preserved in both P and S, but there is no trace of it in T. Taking the other witnesses into account, we note first that there is once again considerable variation in the chapter's title…

There are also many excerpts attributed to him in medieval catenae and florilegia, and in quotations in Church writers.
