    Edward L Nickerson, Robert G Myers•REPORT•1993•Cited by: 1•References: 3

The aquifer system of the Mesilla ground-water basin is the Quaternary flood-plain alluvium and the Quaternary and Tertiary Santa Fe Group. The hydraulic gradient in the shallow flood-plain alluvium within the Mesilla Valley is generally between 4 and 6 feet per mile. The hydraulic gradient in the Santa Fe Group ranges from 100 feet per mile in the northwestern part of the study area to less than 2 feet per mile in the southwestern part of the st…

Three supply wells, about 700 feet deep and spaced about 114 miles apart, each producing 750 gallons per minute for 12 hours each day, could produce about 1,800 acre-feet per year of freshwater. The preferred location of the supply wells is along a line about 1/2 to 1 mile west of Firing-Line Road where the deepest part of the freshwater aquifer occurs. The maximum saturated thickness at this location is almost 2,200 feet.Should this area be exclud…

  • Social Selectivity in the Secondary Schools of Buenos Aires, La Paz, and Santiago de Chile

Robert G Myers, Edward L Cleary et al.•ARTICLE•Sociology of Education•1973

By comparing data on social backgrounds of students in their final year of secondary school, the value of disaggregating school system to the level of individual schools is evident. Patterns of selectivity, overall and by type of school, are found to be different for each of the three cities studied. The data support the idea that increasing access to the school system is not necessarily the same as democratizing access to schooling
