  • The impact of innovation policy on the regional economies of Europe

Open Access•Pablo Casas, Tryfonas Christou et al.•ARTICLE•Cambridge Journal of Regions…•2025•Cited by: 1•References: 8

We evaluate the economic impact of the Horizon 2020 innovation policy using a spatial dynamic general equilibrium model incorporating R&D-based semi-endogenous growth and calibrated for 235 NUTS2 regions of the European Union. The results suggest that the policy can have a positive impact on GDP and job creation, with considerable regional heterogeneity. The GDP gains are expected to be significant in the long run, due to the positive productivit…

  • The impact of the 2014–2020 European Structural Funds on territorial cohesion

    Open Access•Francesca Crucitti, Nicholas‐Joseph Lazarou et al.•ARTICLE•Regional Studies•2023•Cited by: 3

We assess the macroeconomic impact of the European Union Cohesion Policy investments deployed during the 2014–20 programming period, with a particular focus on territorial cohesion and regional disparities. We use a spatial dynamic general equilibrium (RHOMOLO) to quantify the direct and indirect effects of the policy investments in the NUTS-2 regions of the European Union within a 20-year time frame. The results suggest that the impact of the po…

  • Unpacking the growth impacts of European Union Cohesion Policy: Transmission channels from Cohesion Policy into economic growth

Peter Berkowitz, Philippe Monfort et al.•ARTICLE•Regional Studies•2019•Cited by: 9•References: 6

In the context of proposals for a stronger focus on results in Cohesion Policy post-2020, it is necessary to strengthen the link between interventions and evidence on effectiveness. This paper argues that growth regressions and regression discontinuity analysis focusing on regional growth do not provide sufficient detail to support policy-makers in intervention design. A more nuanced picture would be achieved by unpacking intervention in differen…

  • Allocation des efforts de dépollution dans des économies avec spécialisation internationale

Marc Germain, Philippe Monfort et al.•ARTICLE•Revue économique•2006•Cited by: 1
