  • Crime in later medieval England

    Open Access•J B Post•ARTICLE•Continuity and Change•1987

  • The Evidential Value of Approvers' Appeals

    Open Access•J B Post•ARTICLE•Law and History Review•1985•Cited by: 2•References: 2

The criminals of medieval England are coming under increasing scrutiny. Predictably, the earliest attempts to illustrate criminality in this period have been anecdotal in approach. Predictably, too, the case studies are concentrated at higher levels in society, where criminals or their victims were sufficiently prominent to merit the attention of chroniclers or to leave heavy traces in the more accessible records of central government. • Ages at menarche and menopause

    J B Post•ARTICLE•Population Studies•1971•Cited by: 12•References: 3

It is well known that the duration of the fecund period in the female has not been constant, in the last couple of centuries at least. Tanner(1) has assembled the best menarche statistics currently available for Western peoples in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and has concluded that the average age at menarche has fallen fairly consistently, at a rate of four months per decade, since c. 1830. This puts menarche somewhere between 15+ and…
