  • The Question of “Home Wisdom”

    Open Access•Alexander G K Salakpi•ARTICLE•Religions•2026

It has become taboo for a parent today to say “no” to a child. Children grow in this “supposed” freedom and child rights, and then some assume an attitude of always having their own way, a character devoid of “home wisdom”, also called “common sense”. It is only their way that matters; others must bow to them. They become arrogant, proud, selfish, insensitive, irresponsible, and lack initiative; simply put, they mold themselves into “beasts”. • Life Beyond the Grave

    Open Access•Alexander G K Salakpi•ARTICLE•Pharos Journal of Theology•2025•References: 7

Life beyond the grave is of consequent importance to the Aŋlɔ (Anlo) Eʋe (Ewe). Underpinned by burial and funeral rites, life beyond the grave enjoins on the Aŋlɔ Eʋe to live a life of integrity on this earth. This framing, life beyond the grave, is hinged on their belief in the cyclical flow of life; ‘the unborn’, ‘the living’, and ‘the dead’, some of whom are ‘the living-dead’ (Mbiti, 1977:119-125). Most Africans speak about life after death, b…

  • Another Look at the Prophecy of Habakkuk in the Light of Christian Spirituality

    Open Access•Michael Ufok Udoekpo, Alexander G K Salakpi et al.•ARTICLE•Pharos Journal of Theology•2025•References: 1

Issues of faith and theodicy which hinges on why the wicked prosper over the righteous dominate Habakkuk's theology and spirituality (Habakkuk 2:1-4). This includes, his expression of faith experience in relation to God, self and others. Habakkuk laments, prays and confronts the holy, majestic and mysterious God (1:2–2:5), who convinces him that in moments of trials and travails, the just (tsaddiq) shall live only because of their faith (’ěmûnāh …

  • Forget your people and your father’s house’ (Ps 45

    Open Access•Michael Kodzo Mensah, Comfort Max-Wirth et al.•ARTICLE•Verbum et Ecclesia•2024•References: 3

Spousal abuse is one of the foremost threats to peaceful coexistence in families the world over. In Ghana, stakeholders, particularly Christian leaders, have raised concerns about the increasing violence associated with spousal abuse, which sometimes results in the death of victims. Although both men and women suffer abuse in marriages, those meted out to women are prevalent. While substantial effort has been made by biblical scholars to discuss …

  • A Life of Integrity

    Open Access•Alexander G K Salakpi•ARTICLE•Religions•2023•References: 9

The experience of ontological and epistemological dominations made Africans lose their self-consciousness and become unfulfilled in life. Every human being has a life of integrity that must be lived. The Maccabees in the Bible were dominated by Antiochus IV, the King of Syria. He desecrated the Temple, changed their religion, politics, economy, and social life and above all made himself a god to be worshipped. He deprived the Jews of their identi…
