  • Psychometric Properties of the Trauma and Post-Trauma Well-Being Assessment Domains of the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale for General and Reunification Services (NCFAS G+R)

    Raymond S Kirk•ARTICLE•Journal of Public Child Welfare•2015•References: 2

Two new domains of the NCFAS-G+R, trauma and post-trauma well-being, were tested for reliability and validity in relation to previous NCFAS-G+R domains. Three family preservation programs provided case level data on 170 in-home service families over six months. Domains were tested for reliability using Cronbach's alpha, factor structure was explored, and convergent validity was examined through correlations of new scale items with domain ratings …

  • Advances in the Reliability and Validity of the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale

Raymond S Kirk, Mimi M Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Behavior in the…•2005•Cited by: 7•References: 9

Objective: Psychometric properties of the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale (NCFAS) are examined in relation to placement and prediction of future placement within the context of Intensive Family Preservation Services (IFPS). Method: IFPS workers recorded NCFAS intake and closure ratings for 1,279 families. The categorical rating data and change-scores are analyzed in relation to treatment outcomes and future placements. • Intensive family preservation services

    Raymond S Kirk, Donald P Griffith•ARTICLE•Social Work Research•2004•Cited by: 12

This study re-examined the ability of intensive family preservation services (IFPS) to prevent out-of-home placements of children in abusive or neglectful families. A retrospective, population-based design was used. The sample comprised a statewide, six-year, archival population of high-risk child protective services children. The study ensured a high degree of treatment fidelity among service providers, controlled risk factors that may have adve…

Amelia Roberts, Amelia C Roberts et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social Work Practice…•2003

Four hundred seventy-three substance-abusing women were assessed for histories of sexual abuse. The results of bivariate analysis indicated that Sexual Abuse Survivors (SAS) had higher levels of depression, anxiety, and psychological distress. A greater number of SAS reported histories of emotional and physical abuse. They also had greater severity on ASI scales of alcohol, drug, medical, and family/social difficulty. Logistic regression analysis…

  • The Reliability and Validity of the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale

    Open Access•Kellie Reed-Ashcraft, Raymond S Kirk et al.•ARTICLE•Research on Social Work Practice•2001•Cited by: 17•References: 1

Objective: The internal consistency and construct validity of the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale (NCFAS) are reported. The NCFAS is an instrument designed for family assessment and outcome measurement in family preservation services and child welfare. Method: Internal consistency data from 288 participants cases were analyzed. Construct validity data from 126 participants were analyzed, comparing NCFAS scores with those of the Child Well-…
