  • Seeking With Sentiment

    Open Access•Bingbing Zhang, Nihar Sreepada•ARTICLE•Media and Communication•2026

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is rapidly emerging as a powerful intermediary for information access, reshaping how individuals seek and evaluate knowledge. While prior research has examined how people use conversational GenAI to find specific types of information and how dialogue-based search compares with traditional, non-dialogue search engines such as Google, less is known about the psychological and perceptual antecedents of this…

  • “Embracing the Middle Ground

Ahmet Aksoy, Nihar Sreepada•ARTICLE•Howard Journal of Communications•2025

Through a co-cultural theory framework, this study examined how second-generation Americans perceive their positionality as Americans and how it affects their communicative practices with the mainstream U.S. culture. Second-generation Americans are people born in the U.S. to at least one foreign-born parent. Interviews with twenty-two children of Turkish immigrants were qualitatively analyzed. Results revealed that these individuals practice form…

    Open Access•Nihar Sreepada•ARTICLE•Religions•2025•References: 14

This study analyses the Indian and Pakistani publics reactions of the extensive coverage of the Pulwama terror attack, through an analysis of the online comments appearing at the end of the news stories covering the attack from the two leading English newspapers: Times of India (TOI) (India), and Dawn (D) (Pakistan). A qualitative content analysis is performed to compare and examine this dialogue emerging in the news comments sections. Findings a…

  • Digital Archives

Open Access•Nihar Sreepada, Ahmet Aksoy•ARTICLE•Journal of Nationalism Memory &…•2023•References: 22

We analyze the coverage of the Gezi Park protests by two major Western newspapers— The New York Times and The Guardian —through the lens of media framing, rhetoric, and collective memory. We argue that these digital archives frame Turkey’s Gezi Park protests as a challenge to an authoritarian government by promoting the themes of unrest as a conflict of ideologies, oppression of citizens, and the park as a site of memory. In a concluding section,…
