As these professionals may play an important role in suicide prevention, the effects of a poster and accompanying evaluation and triage guide on knowledge, self-confidence and attitudes regarding suicidal thoughts and behaviours, were studied in a multicentre cluster randomis…

Deliberate self‐harm within an international community sample of young people: Comparative findings from the Child & Adolescent Self‐harm in Europe (Case) Study

Nonetheless, there is little reliable comparative international information on its extent or characteristics. Summer Holiday Camps for Gay and Lesbian Young Adults: An Evaluation of Their Impact on Social Support and Mental Well-Being
This study evaluates the effects of participating in a summer holiday camp for Flemish (Belgium) gay and lesbian young adults (N 197). The study is based on panel data with a six-months interval. At follow-up, respondents reported a h…
Confidant support and the mental wellbeing of lesbian and gay young adults: A longitudinal analysis
Lesbian and gay young adults can experience adverse life conditions associated with their sexual minority status. It is not always easy for them to obtain the necessary social support to cope with these challenges. We used short‐term longitudinal data from a survey of 197 lesbian and gay young adults (121 males and 76 females) to investigate how and to what extent the availability of confidants affects depression, hopelessness and self‐esteem. We…
