  • Cementochronologie v archeozoologii: Přiblížení věku a sezóny lovu zvěře z raně středověkého hradiště Na Jánu v Netolicích prostřednictvím analýzy zubního cementu

  • At the edge of Neolithic transition: Strategies of the Linearbandkeramik farmers in South Bohemia (Czechia)

Open Access•Václav Vondrovský, Michaela Ptáková et al.•ARTICLE•Antiquity•2024•Cited by: 1

This project focuses on the subsistence strategies of Early Neolithic communities that inhabited the upland region of South Bohemia. Its results reveal a distinctive trajectory for this peripheral area that was colonised significantly later, brought incoming farmers into close contact with hunter-gatherers and made them adapt their conservative farming practices

Za jistá hradiště lze označit pouze lokality s moderně prozkoumaným a jistě datovaným opevněním. Jsou jimi Kostelec, Vrcovice, Skočice a Všemyslice – Kozí vrch. Dále je z regionu známo ještě dalších 22 potencionálních hradišť. Rozborem arch…

Open Access•Sylva Kaupová, Zdeněk Vytlačil et al.•ARTICLE•Archeologické rozhledy•2022

Příspěvek souhrnně představuje a propojuje výsledky dosavadních izotopových studií populace Velké Moravy, především obyvatel mikulčické aglomerace, zaměřených na rekonstrukci stravy, migraci, ale i způsoby zemědělského hospodaření ve sledované oblasti. Interpretuje i doposud nepublikovaná data vypovídající o stravě jedinců pohřbených v interiérech mikulčických kostelů (n = 10) a o rezidenční mobilitě jedinců z Mikulčic se specifickými hrobovými p…

  • Neolithic rondels in Central Europe and their builders: An Analysis of Multi-Rondel Sites

Open Access•Václav Vondrovský, Lenka Kovačiková et al.•ARTICLE•Antiquity•2022•Cited by: 4•References: 18

Monumental enclosures are a widespread phenomenon of the European Neolithic. One category of enclosure is the mid-fifth-millennium BC rondel sites of Central Europe. In parts of this region, rondel sites are grouped, drawing attention to notable differences in individual rondel forms. Here, we use Bayesian modelling of radiocarbon dates from the ditches of two rondels at Praha-Krč, Bohemia, to demonstrate their contemporaneity. In turn, this info…

The contamination of archaeological find assemblages at multi-period (and other) sites can sometimes go undetected. In this article we seek to highlight this problem through analysis of the fill of settlement features from a site at Rakovice, South Bohemia, Czech Republic. After a detailed spatial evaluation of different categories of finds, an analysis of plant macroremains, and radiocarbon dating, what had originally appeared to be a clear-cut …

Lenka Kovačiková, Sylva Kaupová et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Archaeology•2020•Cited by: 3•References: 24

The archaeozoological analysis sets point to the vital role of pigs in the subsistence economy of Early Medieval Mikulčice, an important Great Moravian centre (Czech Republic). The results of slaughtering distribution analyses indicate that pigs were a meat source for a consumer population. Analyses of stable isotopes of nitrogen and carbon suggest that the demand for pork was predominantly met by animals raised by extensive husbandry. . In addit…
