  • Neue Themen und Konzepte für das Lwl-Freilichtmuseum Detmold - Westfälisches Landesmuseum für Volkskunde

    Jan Carstensen•ARTICLE•Acta Ethnographica Hungarica•2010

  • Plasma Levels of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 are Independently Associated With Psychosocial Factors in a Middle-Aged Normal Population

Peter Garvin, Lennart Nilsson et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•2009

Objective: To test the association between psychosocial factors and circulating levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in a normal population sample. Psychosocial factors have been associated with inflammatory markers and are of prognostic significance for coronary artery disease (CAD). The degrading enzyme MMP-9 is upregulated in inflammatory processes and hypothesized to play a role in the rupture of atherosclerotic plaques. Methods: A to…

Sickness absence during pregnancy has increased in Sweden as well as in other countries. DESIGN--The data from a prospective incide…

  • Mortality in relation to cigarette and pipe smoking

    Jan Carstensen, J M Carstensen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•1987•Cited by: 4•References: 13

In the cohort, 32% smoked cigarettes, 27% a pipe, and 5% cigars. There were clear covariations (p less than 0.001) between the amount of tobacco smoked and the risk of death due to cancer of the oral cavity and larynx, oesophagus, liver, pancreas, lung, and bladder as well as due to bronchitis…
