  • Should I Help? Moderating Effects of the Collaborative Aspect of the Helping Situation on the Attribution‐Emotion‐Help Relationship

    Open Access•Matea Kramarić, Zeljka Kamenov•ARTICLE•Scandinavian Journal of Psychology•2025•References: 52

Previous studies have shown that attributions of controllability influence the decision to help a person in need through elicited emotions. However, it has been suggested that various factors may moderate the relationships within the attribution‐emotion‐action model. The aim of the present study was to examine the moderating effects of the collaborative aspect of the helping situation on the relationships within the attribution‐emotion model of h…

  • Intentions to be Vaccinated Against Covid-19

Violeta Enea, Nikolett Eisenbeck et al.•ARTICLE•Health Communication•2023

Understanding the determinants of COVID-19 vaccine uptake is important to inform policy decisions and plan vaccination campaigns. The aims of this research were to: (1) explore the individual- and country-level determinants of intentions to be vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2, and (2) examine worldwide variation in vaccination intentions. This cross-sectional online survey was conducted during the first wave of the pandemic, involving 6697 responden…

  • Pandemic boredom

Erin C Westgate, Nicholas Buttrick et al.•ARTICLE•Emotion•2023

Some public officials have expressed concern that policies mandating collective public health behaviors (e.g., national/regional "lockdown") may result in behavioral fatigue that ultimately renders such policies ineffective. Boredom, specifically, has been singled out as one potential risk factor for noncompliance. We examined whether there was empirical evidence to support this concern during the COVID-19 pandemic in a large cross-national sampl…

  • Identifying important individual‐ and country‐level predictors of conspiracy theorizing

    Open Access•Karen M Douglas, Robbie M Sutton et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Social…•2023•Cited by: 3•References: 50

Psychological research on the predictors of conspiracy theorizing—explaining important social and political events or circumstances as secret plots by malevolent groups—has flourished in recent years. However, research has typically examined only a small number of predictors in one, or a small number of, national contexts. Such approaches make it difficult to examine the relative importance of predictors, and risk overlooking some potentially rel…

  • Lockdown Lives

Open Access•Jolien van Breen, Maja Kutlaca et al.•ARTICLE•Personality and Social Psychology…•2022

We examine how social contacts and feelings of solidarity shape experiences of loneliness during the COVID-19 lockdown in early 2020. From the PsyCorona database, we obtained longitudinal data from 23 countries, collected between March and May 2020. The results demonstrated that although online contacts help to reduce feelings of loneliness, people who feel more lonely are less likely to use that strategy. Solidarity played only a small role in s…

  • We are all in the same boat’

    Open Access•Elena Resta, Silvana Mula et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Community & Applied…•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 11

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused a global health crisis. Consequently, many countries have adopted restrictive measures that caused a substantial change in society. Within this framework, it is reasonable to suppose that a sentiment of societal discontent, defined as generalized concern about the precarious state of society, has arisen. Literature shows that collectively experienced situations can motivate people to hel…

  • Attitudes towards Gay and Lesbian Parental Rights among Heterosexual Croatian Citizens

Open Access•Zeljka Kamenov, Aleksandra Huic et al.•ARTICLE•Revija za sociologiju•2019

Non-normative sexual orientations question the binary and hierarchically organised image of men-women relations. The main goal of this research was to explore the role of gender identity and gender-roles attitudes in predicting attitudes towards same-sex parenting. An additional goal was to assess whether socio-demographic variables such as age, education, religiosity and political preferences -which proved to be relevant in predicting homonegati…

  • Time perspective, perceived stress, self-control and relationship satisfaction in heterosexual dating relationships of emerging adults

Open Access•Aleksandra Huic, Tina Krznarić et al.•ARTICLE•Psicologia•2018

This study investigates possible protective and vulnerability factors in the link between perceived stress and relationship satisfaction in dating relationships of emerging adults. We investigate whether self-control, as a positive self-regulation resource, serves as a buffer mitigating the negative effect of stress on relationships. We posited a pathway model in which we examine whether maladaptive time-perspectives represent vulnerability facto…

Aleksandra Huic, Margareta Jelić et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Homosexuality•2018•Cited by: 8•References: 62

This study focuses on essentialist beliefs about homosexuality as determinants of discriminatory intentions against gay men and lesbian women (LG) and the readiness to engage in positive action toward them. A sample of 997 exclusively heterosexual adults participated in an online study set in Croatia, a country with high homophobia undergoing social change that threatens the higher status of the heterosexual majority. Beliefs about immutability a…

Open Access•Aleksandra Huic, Ivana Jugović et al.•ARTICLE•Revija za socijalnu politiku•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 10
