  • Stepfamily Break-Up

    Marie-Christine Saint-Jacques, Marie‐christine Saint‐jacques et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Divorce & Remarriage•2016

Stepfamilies are considered to be less stable than first unions. There has been little research conducted that explains why stepfamilies break up or what the viewpoint of the parents and stepparents is. This qualitative study, which was based on life course theory, analyzed the statements made during an interview of 26 parents and stepparents who separated in the first 5 years of their relationship. The results showed that the underlying elements…

This paper presents the results of qualitative research on methods used by youth protection caseworkers ( n = 22) working with stepfather families. The main objective is to identify items that encourage or discourage stepfather involvement in psychosocial in…

  • Love of Animals and Interpersonal Affectionate Behavior

    Open Access•A St-Yves, Mark H Freeston et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1990

The relationship between humans' affectionate behavior with other humans and with animals was investigated. 149 adults (81 current pet-owners and 68 nonowners) completed the two affection scales of Schutz's 1966 FIRO-B and Ray's Love of Animals questionnaire. Current pet owners scored higher on Love of Animals than nonowners, who in turn scored higher than those that had never owned a pet. Factor analysis of the Love of Animals Scale gave a large…
