Hunting monsters
This essay extends Eric King Watts’s analysis of the racialized zombie to the often-related character of the monster hunter. Exploring figures from The Walking Dead (2010–2022), Weapons (2025), and The Conjuring universe of films, this essay traces the rise of the white male monster hunter and its potential relationship to structural discourses of racism and antiblackness.

This article argues that the essential manifestation of Batman is as a textual object while the essential manifestation of Barbie is as a plastic object.
