  • The mobile 3D digitisation lab: Early validation of robotic multi-camera photogrammetry infrastructure

Open Access•Imogen Smith, David Pyle et al.•ARTICLE•Digital Applications in…•2026

Australia’s cultural and scientific collections hold millions of artefacts that remain undigitised due to the prohibitive cost, time, and immobility of current 3D capture systems. To address these barriers, the Mobile 3D Digitisation Lab (M3DL) was developed under an Australian Research Council LIEF (Linkage, Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities) grant (LE250100024). In 2025, the research team developed a transportable, multi-camera photogram…

  • Accumulating evidence using crowdsourcing and machine learning: A living bibliography about existential risk and global catastrophic risk

    Open Access•Gorm E Shackelford, Luke Kemp et al.•ARTICLE•Futures•2020•Cited by: 3•References: 15

The study of existential risk — the risk of human extinction or the collapse of human civilization — has only recently emerged as an integrated field of research, and yet an overwhelming volume of relevant research has already been published. To provide an evidence base for policy and risk analysis, this research should be systematically reviewed. In a systematic review, one of many time-consuming tasks is to read the titles and abstracts of rese…

  • Cultural Responses to the Volcanic Landscape: The Mediterranean and Beyond

    Open Access•David Pyle, David M Pyle•ARTICLE•Geographical Journal•2007

The geology around Rome is largely a result of recent geodynamic processes \naffecting the western Mediterranean area. The geomorphology is mainly \ndue to the Quaternary explosive activity of two volcanic districts, the \nSabatini to the northeast and the Colli Albani to the southeast. Both deposited \nsequences of pyroclastic flows creating a flat and regular morphology that was \nsubsequently deeply excavated by postglacial erosional processes…

  • Crime and Unemployment in Scotland: Some Further Results

    Open Access•David Pyle, David J Pyle et al.•ARTICLE•Scottish Journal of Political…•1994•Cited by: 3•References: 2

This article reexamines the link between crime and unemployment in Scotland; an issue that was originally addressed by R. Reilly and R. Witt (1992). Extending Reilly and Witt's data set by three observations is shown to lead to a significant reduction in the impact of unemployment upon crime. Furthermore, time-series analysis for each region and for Scotland as a whole provides no support for the view that unemployment has a significant impact on…
