  • Asset Management Contracts and Equilibrium Prices

Andrea M Buffa, Dimitri Vayanos et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Political Economy•2022•Referencias: 12

We model asset management as a continuum between active and passive: managers can deviate from benchmark indices to exploit noise trader–induced distortions, but agency frictions constrain these deviations. Because constraints force managers to buy assets that they underweight when these assets appreciate, overvalued assets have high volatility, and the risk-return relationship becomes inverted. Distortions are more severe for overvalued assets t…

  • Beyond Austerity

Costas Meghir, Christopher A Pissarides et al.•BOOK•Beyond Austerity - Reforming the…•2017

More than eight years after the global financial crisis began, the economy of Greece shows little sign of recovery, and its position in the eurozone seems tenuous. Between 2008 and 2014, incomes in Greece shrank by more than 25 percent, homes lost more than a third of their value, and the unemployment rate reached 27 percent. Most articles on Greece in the media focus on the effects of austerity, repayment of its debt, and its future in the euroz…

  • Persuasion Bias, Social Influence, and Unidimensional Opinions

Peter M Demarzo, Dimitri Vayanos et al.•ARTICLE•The Quarterly Journal of Economics•2003•Citada por: 96•Referencias: 9

We propose a boundedly-rational model of opinion formation in which individuals are subject to persuasion bias; that is, they fail to account for possible repetition in the information they receive. We show that persuasion bias implies the phenomenon of social influence, whereby one's influence on group opinions depends not only on accuracy, but also on how well-connected one is in the social network that determines communication. Persuasion bias…
