  • Truth and knowledge in the community of inquiry

Open Access•Luca Zanetti, Sebastiano Moruzzi•ARTICLE•Journal of Philosophy of Education•2024•References: 6

According to some Philosophy for Children theorists, the pedagogy of the Community of Inquiry hinges upon the acceptance of a pragmatist epistemology. The underlying idea is that it is possible to participate, and to justify participation, in a community of inquiry only if some pragmatist view of truth and knowledge is true and accepted by the participants engaged in dialogue. In this article we argue that this claim is false. In this way, we wan…

  • Post-Enquiry and Disagreement. A Socio-Epistemological Model of the Normative Significance of Disagreement Between Scientists and Denialists

    Filippo Ferrari, Sebastiano Moruzzi•ARTICLE•Social Epistemology•2023

In this paper we investigate whether and to what extent scientists (e.g. inquirers such as epidemiologists or virologists) can have rational and fruitful disagreement with what we call post-enquirers (e.g. conspiratorial anti-vaxxers) on topics of scientific relevance such as the safety and efficacy of vaccines. In order to accomplish this aim, we will rely and expand on the epistemological framework developed in detail in Ferrari & Moruzzi (2021…

The leading idea in assembling it has been to draw on different methodologies, theoretical approaches, and competences, in order to gain a fine-grained understanding of the post-truth condition and to develop an effective toolkit to ad…

  • Diaphonic pluralism

    Open Access•Sebastiano Moruzzi•ARTICLE•Synthese•2022•References: 43

In this paper, I offer a pluralistic framework for disagreement and I develop a strategy to account for the varieties of disagreement on the basis of the varieties of the truth across different domains of discourse. Truth-pluralism is thus sufficient for delivering pluralism about disagreement—that is, diaphonic pluralism

Filippo Ferrari, Nikolaj Jang Lee Linding Pedersen et al.•ARTICLE•Inquiry•2020

Logic has traditionally been considered a normative discipline in that it is taken to guide us in deductive reasoning. There is currently an intense debate over how exactly logic's normative role o
