Exchange as Concept, Conceptual Framework or Theory? The Case of Goode's Application of Exchange to the Family
The purpose of this article is to discuss William Goode's utilization of exchange concepts in family sociology. Assumptions, concepts and propositions of exchange theory are discussed in light of Goode's family-related articles. Our analysis argues that Goode only makes partial use of exchange theory in his writings on the family. Parental views on teenage sexual behavior∗
In the present study parents' views of appropriate rules and behavior in teenage courtship were examined. Consideration was given to differences between democratic and autocratic attitudes concerning dating rules and teenage sexual behavior. He contended that a liberal or conservative life style was more important than social class …

Attitude Change among Professionals toward Sex Education for Adolescents
Professional persons enrolled in a sex education institute were studied regarding their attitudes toward sex education for adolescents. The direction and degree of attitude changes emanating from participation in the institute as well as demographic determinants of these changes were investigated. Workshop attitude change was measured in a pre-post design using the Sex Education Liberalism Scale (SELS) and the Sex Education Content Scale (SECS). …

This study investigated parental attitudes toward both general and specific aspects of high school sex education programs. The subjects were 125 randomly selected parental couples who were interviewed separately and concurrently. The great majority of parents approved high school sex education integrated throughout the curriculum as well as requiring a course in family life and sex education. Contradictions are noted.
