  • Exploring factors influencing the application accuracy of the theory of planned behavior in explaining recycling behavior

Jing Ma, Zhaoyun Yin et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Environmental Planning…•2023

In this paper, meta-analysis was carried out to explore the influence of socio-economics, research design, theoretical construction, and measurement factors on the five paths among the elements of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The findings suggested that (i) subjective norm shows relatively poor explanatory efficacy due to narrow measurement range; (ii) perceived behavioral control shows the lowest explanatory efficacy because of missing the …

  • Analysing and Anticipating Conflict Using a Values-Centred Online Survey

    Open Access•Simone Philpot, Keith W Hipel et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Values•2023

The authors present an approach to conceptualising and predicting environmental conflicts in which conflicts are analysed as a continuum of disagreement over values and options. They also operationalise this approach using an online values-centred survey tool, the ‘public-to-public decision support system’ (P2P-DSS). The authors put values and conflict in environmental management into perspective. Next, they review how values are defined in schol…

  • Investigating an Aggregate Mine Proposal Using the Graph Model for Conflict Resolution

    Simone Philpot, Keith W Hipel•ARTICLE•Annals of the American…•2022•References: 44

Aggregates are critical resources for infrastructure and development, but mining operations can be disruptive to nearby communities. We examine a conflict arising in response to a proposed aggregate mine in the Region of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Drawing on participant observation, interviews, and a review of publicly available materials related to the conflict, we gain insight into the regulatory constraints and decision makers driving this con…

  • Climate change‐triggered land degradation and planetary health

Open Access•Byomkesh Talukder, Nilanjana Ganguli et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2021

Land is a vital natural resource for human socio‐ecological wellbeing. Around the world, land is being degraded due to various natural and anthropogenic factors such as flooding, wind erosion, agriculture and human settlement, and anthropogenic climate change. While significant research has been conducted on the separate dyads of: (1) anthropogenic climate change and land degradation and (2) land degradation and health, limited consideration has …

  • Multi-indicator supply chain management framework for food convergent innovation in the dairy business

Open Access•Byomkesh Talukder, Giulio Paolo Agnusdei et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Futures•2021•References: 7

A comprehensive integrated framework of indicators currently used in lean, agile, sustainable and resilient supply chain paradigms is developed under the umbrella of convergent innovation (CI) and applied to the management of the supply chain of a dairy company, including procurement, processing and distribution of their products to customers. CI is a meta-framework that opens new frontiers for commercial innovation, supply chains and market syst…

  • Effect of locus of control on innovative behavior among new generation employees

Open Access•Lingyan Xu, Jianguo Du et al.•ARTICLE•Social Behavior and Personality…•2020

We recruited 211 new generation employees in research and development teams to examine how internal and external locus of control (LOC) are related to innovative behavior, both directly and indirectly, and to examine the moderated mediation roles of innovation climate and work engagement in this relationship. Results show that internal (vs. external) LOC had direct and indirect positive (vs. negative) effects on innovative behavior. Further, work…

  • Using multi‐criteria decision analysis for assessing sustainability of agricultural systems

    Open Access•Byomkesh Talukder, Keith W Hipel et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development•2018•Cited by: 5•References: 4

Composite indicators for six key categories of agricultural sustainability are utilized within a Multi‐Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) structure to assess and compare the sustainability of different agricultural systems. Individual indicators – productivity, stability, efficiency, durability, compatibility and equity – were used to develop composite indicators. In this research, the major steps used to obtain the aggregated indicators and asses…

    Open Access•Niall M Fraser, Keith W Hipel et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Conflict Resolution•1990•Cited by: 2•References: 2

The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in the Soviet Union is modeled and analyzed using conflict analysis methodology. To allow a conflict analysis approach to be conveniently and expeditiously applied to the dispute, DecisionMaker: the Conflict Analysis Program is employed. After acquiring the background information pertinent to the conflict, DecisionMaker was used to develop two conflict models at different times, in terms of decision makers, optio…

A new conflict analysis technique is employed to analyze the international crisis that was created when Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal in 1956. The Suez Crisis involved the use of strategic surprise by the Egyptians and it is clearly demonstrated how this type of situation can be readily modelled by utilizing contemporary methods from conflict analysis. The analysis algorithm provides a procedure for systematically studying the implications of…
