Using Social Practice Wisdom (SPW) as a conceptual lens, we shed new light on destructive, selfish leadership and its negative effects. Our study highlights the negative effects on followers of leaders' selfishness, as well as lack of empathy and inauthenticity. In the 1890s, the London County Council began a project to photograph old buildings in the capital. The common interpretation is that this was preservationist activity to record architectural treasures being ‘lost’. However, after 1899, many images appear not to fit neatly into a story of selective preservation. This article analyses the discourse of financial media reports and commentary during the Global Financial Crisis from 2007 to 2009 using an inductive methodology. Contemporary finance capitalism is understood as being founded on irrealis (unreal) products. The analysis reveals how irrealis is construed as realis.
