Low-Level Shore Platforms in the South-West Scottish Highlands
A well-developed erosional shoreline in the south-west Highlands of Scotland has often been correlated with an inter-glacial platform in east Ireland, but recently correlation with a late-glacial shoreline in south-east Scotland has been suggested. These two hypotheses are tested by analysing altitude data collected in the south-west Highlands and it is argued that the more recent correlation is the more probable. Some Comments on the Late-Glacial History of the Firth of Clyde
The Main Rock Platform of the Firth of Lorn, Western Scotland
At a low level along the coasts of the Firth of Lorn and neighbouring areas, evidence of raised marine erosion is almost continuous. The landforms include fine examples of rock platforms, cliffs, undercuts, caves, natural arches, geos and stacks. Accurate levelling of all rock platform fragments in the area indicates that one major shoreline-termed the Main Rock Platform-is present.
