Devra Anne Weber, Devra Weber•CHAPTER•Unequal Sisters•2023

Devra Anne Weber, Devra Weber•ARTICLE•Journal of American History•2017

The Chicano Generation is the latest in Mario T. Garcia's series of interviews with Chicano (and one Chicana) activists from East Los Angeles, an epicenter of the Chicano movement. Garcia uses the interviews as testimonios—a collective Latin American first-person narrative of resistance—to form a “collective memoir or autobiography” (p. 13). Garcia extensively interviewed the photojournalist Raul Ruiz, the Brown Beret activist Gloria Arellanes, a…

  • Wobblies of the Partido Liberal Mexicano

Devra Anne Weber, Devra Weber•ARTICLE•Pacific Historical Review•2016•Cited by: 2

This article examines the Mexican grassroots base of the Partido Liberal Mexicano (PLM) and PLM members who belonged to the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). It suggests that a grassroots perspective, one that is also multilingual and transnational, reframes both the PLM and the IWW. Eschewing an institutional approach, this perspective suggests that the organizational underbelly for much of this work rested with Mexican social networks that…
