    Cuba’s disaster preparedness has been lauded by various international organizations, including the United Nations, Red Cross, and Oxfam. Hurricane Matthew, a storm that killed more than 1,000 people in Haiti, caused 40 deaths in the United States, but was responsible for no deaths in neighbouring Cuba.
