  • Construction and Initial Validation of the Reese EcoWellness Inventory

    Open Access•Ryan F Reese, Jane E Myers et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal for the…•2015

  • The Role of Supervisors' and Supervisees' Mindfulness in Clinical Supervision

    Open Access•Laura Daniel, L Dianne Borders et al.•ARTICLE•Counselor Education and Supervision•2015•References: 29

The authors explored whether supervisor and supervisee self-ratings of mindfulness (N = 72 supervision pairs) predicted perceptions of the supervisory relationship and session dynamics. Only supervisor self-ratings of mindfulness predicted their own ratings of the supervisory relationship and session dynamics

  • Cognitions of Expert Supervisors in Academe: A Concept Mapping Approach

    Open Access•Gülşah Kemer, L Dianne Borders et al.•ARTICLE•Counselor Education and Supervision•2014•Cited by: 8•References: 23

Eighteen expert supervisors reported their thoughts while preparing for, conducting, and evaluating their supervision sessions. Concept mapping (Kane & Trochim, ) yielded 195 cognitions classified into 25 cognitive categories organized into 5 supervision areas: conceptualization of supervision, supervisee assessment, supervisory relationship, supervisor self-assessment, and administration of supervision. Implications for future research and super…

  • Identification of Differential Item Functioning in Assessment Booklet Designs With Structurally Missing Data

Open Access•Joshua Goodman, Joshua T Goodman et al.•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•2011

The Mantel—Haenszel procedure is a popular technique for determining items that may exhibit differential item functioning (DIF). Numerous studies have focused on the strengths and weaknesses of this procedure, but few have focused the performance of the Mantel—Haenszel method when structurally missing data are present as a result of test booklet design. The current research compares the Type I error rate, power rate, and accuracy of DIF statistic…

  • Mixture Rasch Models With Joint Maximum Likelihood Estimation

    Open Access•John T Willse•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•2011

This research provides a demonstration of the utility of mixture Rasch models. Specifically, a model capable of estimating a mixture partial credit model using joint maximum likelihood is presented. Like the partial credit model, the mixture partial credit model has the beneficial feature of being appropriate for analysis of assessment data containing any combination of dichotomous and polytomous item types. Mixture Rasch models are able to provi…

  • Preparing Students for College: The Implementation and Impact of the Early College High School Model

Julie A Edmunds, Julie Edmunds et al.•ARTICLE•Peabody Journal of Education•2010•Cited by: 5•References: 2

As implemented in North Carolina, Early College High Schools are small, autonomous schools designed to increase the number of students who graduate from high school and are prepared for postsecondary education. Targeted at students who are underrepresented in college, these schools are most frequently located on college campuses and are intended to provide students with 2 years of college credit upon graduation from high school. This article repo…

  • Psychological Climate, Stress, and Research Integrity Among Research Counselor Educators: A Preliminary Study

    Open Access•Kelly L Wester, John T Willse et al.•ARTICLE•Counselor Education and Supervision•2010•References: 33

In this quantitative study, 187 counselor educators at research institutions reported engaging in responsible conduct of research (RCR), with a few individuals reporting deviations from ethical behavior. Tenure-seeking faculty members indicated a greater likelihood of deviating from acceptable research practices than did tenured faculty members. The psychological meaningfulness of one's department and research ethics training positively related t…

  • Assessing creativity with divergent thinking tasks: Exploring the reliability and validity of new subjective scoring methods.

Paul J Silvia, Beate P Winterstein et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology of Aesthetics…•2008

Divergent thinking is central to the study of individual differences in creativity, but the traditional scoring systems (assigning points for infrequent responses and summing the points) face well-known problems. After critically reviewing past scoring methods, this article describes a new approach to assessing divergent thinking and appraises its reliability and validity. In our new Top 2 scoring method, participants complete a divergent thinkin…

  • Comparison of Multiple-Indicators, Multiple-Causes– and Item Response Theory–Based Analyses of Subgroup Differences

Open Access•John T Willse, Joshua Goodman et al.•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•2008

This research provides a direct comparison of effect size estimates based on structural equation modeling (SEM), item response theory (IRT), and raw scores. Differences between the SEM, IRT, and raw score approaches are examined under a variety of data conditions (IRT models underlying the data, test lengths, magnitude of group differences, and relative size of reference and focal groups). Results show that all studied methods perform similarly. …

  • The Search for "Optimal" Cutoff Properties: Fit Index Criteria in Structural Equation Modeling

Stephen A Sivo, Xitao Fan et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Experimental…•2006

This study is a partial replication of L. Hu and P. M. Bentler's (1999) fit criteria work. The purpose of this study was twofold: (a) to determine whether cut-off values vary according to which model is the true population model for a dataset and (b) to identify which of 13 fit indexes behave optimally by retaining all of the correct models while simultaneously rejecting all of the misspecified models in a manner invariant across sample size and …
