  • Use of Q -Factor Analysis for Initial Instrument Validation

    This study presents the unique advantages of Q-factor analysis, an infrequently used multivariate approach, for initial instrument validation. The study demonstrates that with relatively few subjects initial data on predictive validity can be obtained for instruments when large populations are either not available or infeasible.     The effect of client reluctance, resistance to professional assistance, has received little attention in the research on counseling effectiveness.   • Academic Performance and its Personality Correlates in a College Sample of Blacks and Whites

    Effects of discrimination on academic performance were tested by comparing black and white college students matched for sex, scholastic aptitude, and secondary school achievement. Four variables comprising the personality constructs of frustration tolerance and independence were analyzed.
