This report discusses principal causes and patterns of crime and violence; explains three theories of violence based on ideas, behaviors, and social interactions; and focuses on what distinguishes the communities that are more resilient to violence. The Clash of Violent Conflict, Good Jobs, and Gender Norms in Four Economies
This study draws on a large qualitative dataset from Afghanistan, Liberia, Sudan and West Bank and Gaza to explore the effects of violent armed conflict on gender norms, men's and women's perceptions of agency and empowerment, and the strong normative frameworks that surround economic participation. This paper brings together the concepts of social norms and innovation diffusion to assess two community development projects with gender targets.
