This paper examines the influence of the 2015 economic crisis on subjective well-being (SWB) and the withdrawal of support for the incumbent party during the 2018 presidential election in Brazil. • Bringing Happiness Into the Study of Migration and Its Consequences: What, Why, and How

    Open Access•Maarten Hendriks, Dave Bartram•ARTICLE•Journal of Immigrant & Refugee…•2019•Cited by: 17•References: 31

To support migrants and policy makers in making more of migration, the migrant's overall outcome should be at the core of migration research. Effective evaluation of the consequences of migration is impaired, however, by a lack of a clear framework to examine all-encompassing outcomes. This review paper paves the way for a better understanding of whether and under what conditions migration benefits migrants (and others) and lays the foundation fo…

Like other everyday policing actors in Sub-Saharan Africa and elsewhere, the Anti-gang of Goma defy simple categorizati…

  • The happiness of international migrants: A review of research findings

    Maarten Hendriks•ARTICLE•Migration Studies•2015

International migration that is motivated by the striving for a better life is growing explosively. Migrants and policymakers would benefit from knowing whether migrants' outcomes reflect their aims and expectations. Quantitative research that examines the happiness of migrants has been performed in different academic disciplines (e.g. psychology, sociology, and economics). The spread of research over various disciplines has restricted researcher…
